With the successful launch of our San Diego office in 2007, we saw tremendous opportunity in Southern California. The firm’s footprint now expands with the acquisition of ILA Zammit, one of the largest privately owned electrical engineering firms in the San Diego area. Starting June 22, 2010, ILA Zammit’s 28 employees will join Sparling’s ranks. This acquisition fulfills our vision for a more powerful presence in the region. According to CEO Eric Overton, “It’s a strategic move for us. We were ready when the right opportunity emerged. This acquisition gives us additional technical strengths at a time when clients need inventive solutions to complex challenges – engineering, economic and environmental. The timing is perfect, especially with a partner like Larry Zammit, whom I respect professionally and personally.”

The combined San Diego staff will begin working together in one location on June 28th. ILA Zammit’s professional staff will be fully integrated into Sparling’s robust electrical engineering, acoustics and technology consulting practice. Zammit’s four architectural lighting designers will become part of Candela, a subsidiary of Sparling.
